Permanent Exhibition

The museum's permanent exhibition is composed of 4,500 works produced from mid-1950 until today, picturing Brazil’s cultural universe, with its various urban and rural cultures displayed in 1,500 m2 of galleries. Together the collection offers a comprehensive view of Brazilian life and daily activities, its religious and fantasy celebrations.

Throughout the galleries the exhibits are accompanied by explanatory texts in Portuguese, English and French; photographic enlargements with images of the artists, popular festivals and descriptions of works, with the names and birthplaces of the artists and when the work was created.

The Museu Casa do Pontal has been organized thematically into 12 sectors following the flow of the exhibition. Videos in each sector can be seen by clicking on the map above or clicking on the links below. Learn more about each sectors by clicking on the icon beside it.
