CAR

Zona Sul – Av. das Américas Take the Estrada Lagoa-Barra until you reach the Avenida das Americas in the direction of Barra-Recreio. When you reach Recreio Shopping, take the fork to the right before the overpass, following the signs. When you reach the canal, turn left, again following the signs, passing under the overpass. Continue for 1 km, along the canal, to the next sign. Turn right, crossing the bridge over the canal and go right again, following the signs. Follow the road about 2km until you reach Museu Casa do Pontal, which will be on your right.

Zona Sul – via Barra da Tijuca beach Take the Estrada Lagoa-Barra, and, after the Joá tunnel, follow signs to the Barra da Tijuca beach, turning on Avenida Sernambetiba along the beach to Recreio. At the Praça Pontal where Avenida Sernambetiba ends and becomes Estrada do Pontal, follow Pontal beach until you reach the end of beach and cross the bridge over the canal. Turn right at the sign. Follow the road about 2 km until you reach the Museu Casa do Pontal, which will be on your right.

Zona Oeste After descending the Grota Funda grade take the Estrada do Pontal and go right. Follow the road about 2 km. Museu Casa do Pontal will be on your left, opposite the sign shortly after passing St. Patrick's School.

From downtown Rio de Janeiro Take the Linha Amarela and get off on Embaixador Abelardo Bueno in the direction of Rio Centro to Avenida Salvador Allende. Continue to the Avenida das Americas. Take Avenida das Americas towards Barra da Tijuca and Recreio. When you reach Recreio Shopping, take the fork to the right before the overpass, following the signs. When you reach the canal, turn left, following the signs, passing under the overpass. Continue for 1 km, along the canal, until the next sign. Turn right, crossing the bridge over the canal and go right again, following the signs. Follow the road about 2km until you reach Museu Casa do Pontal, which will be on your right.

Bicycle

Directions to Museu Casa do Pontal by Bicycle The bike path that runs along the beach from Barra da Tijuca to Recreio continues to Macumba beach or Portal beach. Follow Estrada do Pontal about 2km from the beach to Museu Casa do Pontal. Be careful, the road is narrow and there is no bike lane or shoulder. The Museu Casa do Pontal will be on your right.

Bus

Coming from Zona Sul Take any bus that goes to Barra da Tijuca (e.g., 308, 309 or 314). Get off in front of the Barra Shopping Center. Take Bus 818 (Joatinga - Recreio running about every 35 minutes), getting off on Estrada do Pontal, in front of the Museu Casa do Pontal.

Coming from the Zona Norte Take the Bus 749 (Cascadura – Recreio, running every 30 minutes), getting off on Estrada do Pontal, in front of the Museu Casa do Pontal.

Coming from Zona Oeste Take any of the following buses 853, 854 and 855 (every 10 min) or 882 (Santa Cruz - Barra da Tijuca running about every 35 min), getting off on the Avenida das Americas at the first stop after the Grota Funda grade. Then take Bus 749 (Cascadura - Recreio), getting off on Estrada do Pontal, in front of Museu Casa do Pontal.
