Zulmira

Zulmira Celestino da Silva was born on 22 April 1943 in Serra do Araripe, Ceará State. In the 1970s she began her career as a folk artist sanding the pieces of her brother Celestino. After helping this well-known wood carver for two years, she began creating her own figures. She adopted her brother’s style and she produces: mineiro-pau dance, lace-maker girls, farm workers, hunters, flour mill, skulls, pregnant women, ox carts, local dances, Cabaçal band and so on. She is married to Cicero Albino and they have a son Antonio Celestino.
