Bands and troubadours

In Brazilian folk art, hundreds of shows of musicians are evidence of a country where music and song accompany practically every event in life: from zabumbas and litanies in processions to carnival blocks, including groups where the musicians are winged angels, mariners or horsemen. "Bands" of music are also widely represented. The most famous of them is the band of pipers [pífaros] where the zabumba and triangle are played, in addition to the pipes or “pífaro” (pífano) – a kind of military flute with a high pitch.  Master Vitalino helped disseminate this type of music, which became a trademark of the Brazilian Northeast country music.
